Cow vigilantism to the fore
As everyone already knows, the violence unleashed by cow vigilantes goes on unabated. Just take the incident from two weeks ago. In jharkhand, a dead cow was found in front of a house. An angry mob gathered, they beat up the owner of the house , set his house on fire. And the person died. The very next day, in ramgarh, Jharkhand, another person was accused of carrying beef and his car was burnt. he was beaten mercilessly, and he succumbed in the hospital. It all came immediately after PM Modi spoke out against cow vigilantism.
One day before the eid, i.e on 25th a few young boys from haryana was coming from Delhi after buying clothes. They were travelling in train. In ballabhgarh a few people got into the train, and picked up a quarrel with the boys. Then they beat up all of them. One boy in particuular Junaid Ali was attacked with knife and stabbed several times. He was left to die and his injured friends were thrown out of train. Junaid died outside the railway station.
But strangely, the ruling party BJP has refused to take ownership of these incidents. Whenever any of their party spokesman is asked why such incidents are happening, they ask why one RSS worker was killed in kerala, why there was no condemnation at that time? Why this selective outrage, they ask. The point is clear. They do not want people to ask uncomfortable questions.
It cannot be denied that Modi govt has been tremendousely successful in transforming India's image worldwide. India is an economic powerhouse now. But domestically, there has been an erosion of trust between communities. What was earlier unthinkable, is happening everyday. Who gives them so much courage? Who encourages. Only two months ago, the central govt passed an order on cattle trading. It essentially rules out buying or selling cattle for meat. That must have de facto justification to the cow brigade, that since trading of cows for meat is illegal, they can accuse anybody who is transporting cows as trading cows for meat and then beat such person to death. And in each case police did nothing to prevent the incident.

This is what India has come to become. In the name of cow vigilantism anybody can be accused of carrying beef, and then he will be beaten to death.
