Day of Massacre

On 16th of December 2014, one day after the Siege of Sydney ended, the world was horrified to learn that the Taliban (TTP) has attacked a school in Peshawar. Seven gunmen entered the school, and started indiscriminate shooting. It was the Army school of Peshawar that they had singled out for the massacre.

Very soon the mowed down nearly 130 students and 9 teachers of the school. Then they started blowing themselves off.

One student who was rescued alive recounted ""I saw a pair of big black boots coming towards me," said Shahrukh Khan, 16, from his bed at Lady Reading Hospital. "This guy was probably hunting for students hiding beneath the benches." He said he and his classmates ducked below their desks when four of the nine gunmen burst into their room.
He tried to play dead after being shot in both legs, stuffing his tie into his mouth to stifle his screams.

"The man with big boots kept on looking for students and pumping bullets into their bodies," he said. "I lay as still as I could and closed my eyes, waiting to get shot again.
"My body was shivering. I saw death so close and I will never forget the black boots approaching me – I felt as though it was death that was approaching me."
His teacher was crying out with discomfort, having been shot in the hand. One of the gunmen then walked up to her "and started shooting her until she stopped making any sound"
As the attack was going on, the TTP spokesman came on TV and took full responsibility of the incident.

And the attack solidified public opinion against the Taliban.

Even leaders like Imran Khan, who were not in favour of action against the Taliban are singing a different tune.

In my view this could be the moment of transformation for Pakistan as a nation which will determine their future course of action. The Taliban has shown how low they can go, and it is up to the Pakistan Government and Army to retaliate.
