The plight of the bengalees in North-east India
You may have heard it before also. A few of you may have been witness to it also.
And yet the country tends to forget the enormity of the problem being faced by a sizeable section of the country.
They are the bengalees of the north east. Many consider them as the modern day Jews, some people tend to treat them as Jews were treated in Nazi Germany.
Time and again they have been singled out to be blamed and they have been killed mercilessly by the local people, for no fault of theirs. Time and again they have been called outsiders or foreigners or aliens, although they are born here. They have been deprived of their civil rights and voting rights and yet no one spoke up for them.
Now the time has come to recognize their suffering and provide them with means to get justice.
The criminals of nelllie are yet roaming freely. Punish them.
In the Assam violent agitation led by AASU between 1979-1985, more than 10,000 bengalees (hindu and muslim alike) were killed. And yet they dare to call it a non violent agitation.
